Upgrading HOB Skimmer
Hi All,
I'm currently running a cheapie Boyu skimmer which I got given with the tank (it came as a freebie and kept startup costs down!) http://www.allpondsolutions.co.uk/aq...WaqRoCJYHw_wcB It's being pretty much impossible to balance, if I turn up slightly it pulls tons of clear liquid out of the tank and if I turn it down slightly nothing gets extracted. Also, my tank is full of microbubbles and it's driving me crazy. The Deltec MCE range seem to get great reviews so looking at these. My tank is 350L (took 290L of water with the LR), so I'm thinking the MCE300 will be enough. I stock lightly (I've got 2 x Clowns, 2 x Shrimps and 1 x small Powder Blue Tang in there currently). What's everyone think, is the MCE300 going to be plenty or should I go for a bigger skimmer? I don't want to waste money by getting the MCE600 if I don't need it but if it would help then I may as well pay the extra! |

350L is about 90 gallons? Yeah, your load is pretty small, but everything I read about skimmers says better to be too large than small. I had (and am having) excellent results with eShopps. I had the HOB on my 55g, and it worked so well I got the PSK-100 in-sump skimmer when I got a sump a few months ago. You can dial these in beautifully. And they're really inexpensive.
