Help!! Reef octopus bh100 setup advice
I've just purchased a reef octopus bh100 hob protein skimmer, the first of its kind I've every owned. It came with assembly instructions only, and nothing about getting it up and running. I have the unit hanging on the intake and output pipes, and I made sure it was level. When I plugged it in, it began making a TREMENDOUS amount of bubbles. If I put the collection cup in, it collects a 1/2 inch of water within minutes. The o-ring on the collection cup keeps sliding, as well, which means the more water it has it in the lower it drops and the faster the water collects.
Help, please!! What can I do to reduce the number of bubbles? |

1. Use the included screw to hold the collection cup in place
2. when starting, kink the air house till water reaches the bottom of the cup then let go . Adjust cup height from there . |

Thanks for the help! I have it up and running now, but have another question. How quickly should it be making bubbles? I have the container up fairly high (maybe 3/4 of an inch into the top), there are bubbles steadily climbing the chamber, and the overflow side is full of bubbles, too. Is this normal? Will it settle down once it has run for a while? Or do I have to adjust it somehow?
Thank you!! |

it will settle down over time. you can put a cut and place a small filter pad on top of the overflow, it will help with the bubbles. but it will gunk up fast so be careful to keep it cleaned.
