New Duncan coral! Great piece but a bit pricey.

Nice! Put it someplace that it can quadruple in size over the next 6 months so you don't have to move it. They can grow rather quickly. Mine started out with 4 heads, now has well over 30. I've had it about a year.

Thanks for the advise, that will be a challenge since I don't have much rock in my tank but I will try. How does it grow exactly?? Mine looks kind of like a branch.

I bought mine a few weeks ago, it is already growing another head and the 5 it had have doubled in size.
According to the lady at my LPS there are two types of Duncan's, branching and not branching. I would say the one you have is branching and will grow out in different directions, so yes make sure you give it room to grow. Other people say there aren't two types that it depends on how heavy of a flow you have it in. Either way I would say give it room to grow because, like most of us have seen, they grow really quickly. |

We call mine "Cousin It". It is roughly round in shape, and about the size of a large grapefruit. With all of the heads waving their tentacles it looks very cool. I'll try to remember to take a picture of it tomorrow.

Mine is located in the middle left of the tank, in front of the live rock but a good 6-8" from the glass. The flow in my 120g tank is from 4 x 1500gph koralias on alternating timers and the return from a eheim 1262. It can get pretty turbulent in there when they are all running at the same time. Think willow tree in a wind storm.
And sorry I haven't posted a picture yet. Work seems to get in the way of everything I want to do........

I have mines on the sandbed in a 120 (4x2x2) with a Jebao RW-15 and a MP 40. So i would say it's getting low to moderate flow.

I've been trying to find some of these over the more common Duncan. Any ideas of a good place to get some?

Duncans aren't pricey here, maybe $10 a head, tops. They grow so fast, there always seems to be some available.

I buy all of my coral from urban oceans in Louisville ky. It's a reef only supply store. I'm not sure if he sells anything online yet...the store has been around a while but it's been under new ownership recently. It was pricey for me lol I tend to buy small frags since my tank is little and I'm not ready to handle any of the sps. That piece was 70 bucks I know it was a fair price I'm just not used to spending that much on one frag.
