chaeto with black on it

Hi all I've had my chaeto for around 3 weeks all doing great this week I have just started to notice growth etc.
I currently have it in my refugium with little flow but I am hand turning it every 2 days or so 6500k lights are on whilst tank lights are off.
I have just started to notice that there is black growing on the chaeto if I pic it up and put it into the strong flow it comes off what could this black be good or bad??
The sump also has started to see some growth withing the chaeto and refugium
