Two gsp hermit ?'s
i have gsp not opening up like it used to. I only have it about four weeks. I also got FS and Kenya same day they are going great.gsp seemed happier first three weeks not as happy lately. It's far From looking like its dying just not opening fully. Now I keep seeing red leg hermits picking at purple mat.not sure if that has anything to do with it or if it's normal for them to clean it.unless they're eating it. Calcium 420 alk 8 to 8.5 mag around 1380. Nitrates 10 to 15 all these parameters have been stable since corals added. I can't think of any obvious changes. I wasn't even to concerned until I noticed crabs at it. especially since it seems to be growing. just Not as good as FS and Kenya though.

Hermits eat algae on the corals, not corals themselves. Does it look like there's lots of algae on it and possible hermits just keep on bothering the GSP?

Ya that's what I assumed. There's not a lot of algae on it. But I'm sure they're finding some on it that I can't see. Why don't the little jerks eat the algae on the rock. I don't have much but there is like a lime green algae that nobody's touching.

GSP will go through periods where it doesn't open. I have a few large mats in my tank and sometimes one is closed completely for a week. Then it opens back up. Hermits will be attracted by necrotic tissue, but they could also just be picking out algae or detritus.

Good news. I just found out that lime green algae they won't eat is coralline algae. I thought it was nuisance algae but I knew it wasn't green hair.
