Store credit going towards Apex Salinity Probe
Finally after six months of trading in frags got $100 store credit. Decided to add to my apex a salinity probe. Going one part at a time so bought the PM2 module first. Figure since I'm not spending cash on this add on and if its like many say unreliable no major loss. Hope I didn't make a mistake are they more reliable these days?

It's not too exact honestly, I had a lot of problems with mine when I first got it and had to get it replaced. Sometimes if I moved it around it will shoot up to 45.. its useful for long term monitoring of the salinity to see if its going down or up but dont count on it being exactly 35, expect a 1 or 2 ppt difference from what a refractometer will show.

The set point being dead on is not the beauty, it is showing a trend of going up and down and if it goes down rapidly you can set a alarm.
A tip on refractometers, keep a bottle of 35ppt reagent in each of your sumps to temp calibrate your refractometers as temp change can add up to large differences and you should calibrate them often.

Also the probe is very susceptible to interference. Make sure that no cords go near the probe wires.
