Apex + Reef Angel Doser Help!
Just got ahold of a Reef Angel dual doser.. not the greatest doser but seems to be ok.
My tank is a 45G display with a 30G sump.. sump is about 3/4 full so I am thinking this is about 60Gs total volume. Current numbers as to where I wish to keep them: Alk: 8.5 DKh Calcium: 475 ppm Mag: 1400 ppm Nitrate: 0 (Red Sea Pro) Phosphate: 0 (Hannah) PH 8.1-8.3 daily (8.3 is peak at around 8PM when lights start to dim down) Salinity: 35 Temp: 78 I stopped manually dosing for a week (Sun - Sun). Over that period of time I saw a drop of about 1.7 DKh Alk total and 35ppm Calcium. Now I also did a water change during this week. After the water change I saw an increase of 1 dKh Alk/5ppm Calc. Not sure how to calculate the bi-weekly water changes into the math here so I am open to suggestions. I use IO Reef Crystals for salt, maybe just use the normal IO? For now, I will exclude the water change flux from my math. My tank is primarily SPS (30+ frags). Bioload wise I have 5 fish (yellow tang, 2 Lyrtail Anthias, McCosker's wrasse, Filamented Flasher Wrasse). Dosing here with Seachem Reef fusion 2-part. Calculator online from MarineDepot says to dose 4.5ml daily for a consumption of .24dkh a day. My doser is rated at .75ml a sec. So this comes out to be 6 seconds of dosing a day. From reading I should dose equal parts of each.. so am I to ignore the consumption on calcium even though the requirements are different and stick to the requirements for Alk only (as in dose both parts equally according to Alk needs)? Also, i ran a test for dosing of 3 times, 2 seconds each over a period of 6 hours and the doser didn't like the short bursts. So I am targeting a single dose at midnight for 6 seconds for alk, and then at 1AM for the calcium. Anyway, this is what I came up with for coding on the Apex for the doser. Times are staggered to prevent running at the same time: EB3_4: Alk Fallback OFF OSC 000:00/000:06/059:54 Then ON If Time 01:00 to 23:59 Then OFF If pH > 8.35 Then OFF EB3_8: Calc Fallback OFF OSC 000:00/000:06/059:54 Then ON If Time 02:00 to 00:59 Then OFF If pH > 8.35 Then OFF I waited up last night and when the Alk doser kicked off it ran for MAYBE 3 seconds, not the 6 i specified. In the logs it shows as being on for 6 seconds. I also noticed in my Apex logs after letting this run for a night that the Calcium is going off twice in the morning. Maybe my timing is off on my coding here. Any ideas? It goes off twice within the hour between 1AM and 2AM. ** Also, for the testing I am using water, don't want any mistakes until I get this dialed in. Any help is appreciated. Thanks |
