Hippo Tang

I bought my first hippo Tang and she acts weird. I put her in my quarintine tank and she is hanging out vertical against the air pump?

Normal that she's vertical like that? Is she just getting used to the tank?

Hippos are weird. They need and like lots of places to hide. Does it have places to hide? They like to wedge themselves in wherever they can fit. If you give it places to hide it will become more brave and come out more.

They will wedge themselves into tight spots. If it happen to be vertical, he will stay vertical.

Mine sleeps on my nori clip..

Observational QT. 2 weeks in. After every feeding she wedges herself right back under that rock until the next meal. Occasionally we catch her swimming around. Get too close and away she goes.

Yeah very typical. They do that all the time.

Don't worry when she get big she'll be VERY bold.

No worries, that is typic as above mentioned. Mine did that a lot I eventually incorporated more caves when I upgraded to my 120. She then would just hang out in there occasionally.
