Red face Our mixed 75g LED lit mixed reef tank

Hello and thank you for taking the time to take a look at our reef!

My wife and I started this tank ~6 months ago as of this date. We have learned a lot from these forums and have had great success thus far, as well as finding a passion for reef keeping. We are both Iraq combat veterans, and find a lot of serenity for ourselves in this hobby.

My intention with this thread is to give back a little bit and answer questions about the tank. Primarily this thread is to accept advice and suggestions on how to better run our little slice of ocean.

This thread will be updated regularly for the foreseeable future so please check back and I'm sure a lot of you will see your advice to us take shape.

We started this all off in a 37g bowfront which cracked 2 months in. Some of the gear is still being upgraded so bear with me but enough chatter, off to the gear list:

75g Marineland Majesty tank and stand, DIY canopy by us and sump. We have ~110lbs of live rock and ~105lbs caribsea live sand.

Lights are 2x Euphotica 120w LED's (these are cheaply available on amazon, they work really well, in my opinion) Here's the url: http://www.amazon.com/EUPHOTICA-Dimm...QNH363J2GG1858

110gph eschopps external overflow with (this is getting upgraded to 800gph very soon) a 420gph return pump.

Koralia smart wave controller that flips powerheads off and on ever 30 minutes.

4 powerheads, two 1300's, one on either end pointed at each other and then two 840's in the middle pointed towards either side, but these two alternate on a controller. Put shortly, only three are ever running.

Skimmer is a goofy little 65g which was also readily available on amazon, and does a great job. Here's the url: http://www.amazon.com/SCA-301-Gallon...rotein+skimmer

RO/DI filter hooked up outside

Sump is a 20g tank with ~10-15g in it. If features a ton of live rock, the usual ups and downs, a bag of purigen, a bag of carbon that gets run one day a month, and as mentioned above, the skimmer. This tank is getting completely redone soon.

Here's some projects I'd like to do soon. We'll call it my wish list/to-do list:

In-stand ATO. I need help with this because though I understand the concept, applying it to my setup is something I need a lot of advice on, please.

Calcium reactor. I can easily be talked back OUT of this one. I don't relish the setup of this one, but it's benefits seem to be great. I have small coral right now and am supplementing 2x a week already.

A third LED, could be different, though for now I am assuming it will be the same as the other two. I'm really not OK with any other style of light.

I need to hard plumb the up/down lines. I could probably use some suggestions on how best to do this as well.

Sump upgrade. I have a pretty good idea where this is going, but would love all sorts of input into how to do it.

That's about it for now! Thank you again for reading through and taking an interest. We are both very excited to see where this takes us.
