Mp40qdw setup

Looking at buying my second mp40 and I'd like to see my pumps work together for the settings... Do You NEED a reef link to have the two pumps connect to each other or can they context to eachother with out the reef link but just not to a computer or your lights?

They will connect to each other if you have the MP40wES.

Download the manual if you don't have one. It will show you how to link them master/slave and sync or anti sync

They link as long as they have the wireless modules which almost all of the 40s do unless you have some very early models.

If they both have a lit up W on the controller then they will talk to each other, download the manual and configure them to master / slave. That said I recently added a reeflink to my house (60g cube and 135g, total of 4 Vortechs) and the programming ability of the reeflink is pretty impressive.

With the reeflink you can set up a schedule to have the modes change during the day and do far more configuration of the pumps. Not required but I am pretty happy with the additional control it brings.
