Happens even to the experts. Your best ally is a) don't overload the tank because disasters happen faster and worse if you do b) develop a habit of looking at and touching the tank as you pass (to note coral behavior [a real good alarm for problems] and water temperature) c) train a tanksitter or two BEFORE you face a trip or emergency.
