25 nano cube, first actual attempt!
Hey everyone, this is my first real attempt at a reef and my first tank journal on a reef forum...ive always been into planted tanks and only once for a few months kept a reef tank, and it was tiny...one of the eclipse 3 gal bowfronts that i managed to fit an extra 50/50 bulb and an aquaclear turned into a fuge on the back. It was ok, just kept some soft corals that didnt die, but also didnt spread. But this time im going for it...ive got a 25 cube thats reef ready, i just finished the stand for it and i have a skimmer in the mail...reef octopus something 50 im hoping its a good one, im going to be using a 5.5 gal for a sump since theres only 18 inches of space in the cabinet so i wanted to find a pretty compact skimmer...on a non related note, here is the 75 thats coming downAttachment 325164i love the tank but it was more of an art piece and not something interactive that can hold interest, so i hate to tear it down but its essentially a cool painting that you have to do regular maintenence on not really my thing, but the rare plants and ones i want to keep have gone into a tiny rimless tank on a table in the corner and the small fish will be in soon and ill have a good spot for the new tank...ill post pics of the tank later but i do have a pic of the standuploadfromtaptalk1438956595088.jpgthis is really foreign to me so i really appreciate any helpful advice to avoid any newbie traps...with planted tanks i was the one the fish store would call when they had a customer with a problem, but when it comes to reefs im totally clueless, i saw aiptasia on a tank when i was looking at some of the reef tanks at the lfs and the owner busted out laughing when i said "those things are pretty cool", so im guessing i have a long way to go
