Can a sea hare survive solely on chaeto?
I think I know the answer to this, but I'm posting just to be sure. I have a sea hare in my fuge that I would love to keep healthy.
Can he survive just munching on my giant ball of chaeto? Or do I need to start growing some hair algae in there for him? Like I said, I think I need to grow some HA in there for him. But I'm just trying to cover the bases since I can't find a straight answer in Google.

Idk, but another option is to pass him on to a newb with an algae problem. Sometimes local clubs will have a "swinger hare" that gets passed around to clear algae and then move on before it starves. I think of them as janitors so getting my water dirty enough to grow ha would be weird, but I guess if you think it's a cool pet maybe you could get it to eat algae wafers?

I think I'm going to try some nori.
But for something that doesn't eat chaeto, it sure spends a lot of time with his face shoved in it. My bet is yes, he is eating it. But I'd really like to get a definitive answer on what I should be doing to keep him healthy. I'm really growing to like him. He's cool in his weird, slug way.

They won't eat cheat but one time when a LFS had some massive seahares we would feed them pieces of nori and watch them suck it down while on the glass.
