please help unexplained deaths occurring
Hello All,
my reeftank is a little over 8 months old, I have a 60g cube with xr30wpro, mp40, sump and a 1/10hp chiller. the man who services my tank every week says my levels are great (i trust him as he has been doing this for 30 years), i will post them if needed. i recently just bought the chiller because i had a day where i came home and everything i loved dearly was unexpectedly dead. the only survivors were my clowns, purple and green hammer coral, lord howensis acan and green wellso. for some reason whenever i try to add a fish it dies, so until i figure out what is going on I will no longer be adding anything, because i care about the animals and do not want them to die. I called my service guy yesterday to let him know that a baby yellow tang i purchased died within 4 hours of putting it into his new home after being quarantined for three weeks. I just cant explain it. my calcium is at 430, dkh is at 9, mag is 1300, temp of tank is 76.8 degrees, we do weekly water changes, i have even brought in water samples to the local fish store and they said they were good. We are all literally at a loss for words because we cannot explain this ridiculous phenomenon. my service guys seems to think that there is some predator in the tank, but i cannot explain it. I removed the sally lightfoot weeks ago, and the hermit crabs are a nice size but surely it cannot be them. please help! sincerely, A very frustrated Reefer (Mike)

You may want to ask this in the disease forum. My question is what do the dead fish look like? How do they act before they die? It's strange that you have a few fish living in there and anything new dies. Yes need more info about the dead fish but do yourself a favor and post this in the disease forum.

I'm confused. You came home and everything was dead so you bought a chiller? What brought you to that solution?

Yea, what was the logic with getting a chiller you are running an LED light so heat shouldn't be an issue. I assume its located in a house with HVAC as well. Is there stray current? As well as what DK said what do the dead fish look like? How do they act before the pass away. Is there a trend to when you find them dead?
