what type of rock makes good base rock?

The title says it all: what types of rock make good base rock? I have heard tufa rock works well but I'm curious what else will do the job? What do you use? I am planning on getting a good amount of base rock and then seeding it with a little live rock. Thanks all.

I'm doing the same thing, using marcorocks.com. It's being able to take my time arranging them and cutting them how I need outside of the tank. Hard part will be setting them back up in the tank the same way!

+1 for Marco rocks and il throw in AquaMaxx also. I got my boulder style rock from Marco and I used AquaMaxx prime cut plate rock for shelf formations. I had to go with them because Marco did not have any shelf in stock and I was satisfied with both suppliers.

I like the BRS pukani if you are willing to put a little work into it (possible phosphate issues and shaping
