lionfish in 180 help

Hello everybody. This is my first time posting

thanks for having me. Anyway, I would love to be able to start a fowlr tank. I have a 180 gallon reef ready tank with a 40 gallon sump. I would like to keep one voliton Lionfish in this tank. Now. My question is how much live rock would I really need? The usual 1 to 2 pounds per gallon? Does this one fish really need that much. And how about a protein skimmer? Any suggestions? Any other information would be great! As this will be my first step into saltwater. I've already been researching a ton but would just like to have those questions answered. thanks

If you only want the 1 fish in the tank you could get by with 50lbs rock and water changes.

Personally I wouldn't do any less than 100 lbs of rock in a tank that size.

I do agree the more the better, you can alao get dry rock which will be alot cheaper and seed it with just a few lbs of live rock.

I agree and exactly how I'd do it. Only need about 10% actual live rock to dry rock IMO

Okay . sounds good. Any tank mates that would be a good compliment to the lionfish? Sorry it took me a while to respond. Been working damn 12 hour days.

Current Tank Info: 40b 750 gph 45 lbs lr, 2"-3" sand, 165w full spectrum dimable LED, 20 gal sump/refugium 30 lbs lr, Bak Pak 2 skimmer, 4" sock temp 79-80, sg 1.026, NH3 0, NO2 0, NO3 <10, ph 8.2, calc 400, mag 1300
