Best snails to remove build up on glass?

Whats the best snails to remove the build up on the glass? I assume at this point the phosphates are high but maybe this will help me keep the glass clean will I find the underlying problem

IME Mexican turbo's and Astrea if you can keep them alive. The turbo's are too big for a nano, but the Astreas come small enough. Neither like hi nitrates...

Mexican Turbos are great but have several short comings. I have found that Red Banded Trochus snails have been the best for me. They don't bulldoze the tank and are hardier than the Mexican Turbos. They eat a ton for their size and can right themselves if they fall on their backs. You can't go wrong with Red Banded Trochus.

I've never seen a snail that can really clean the glass the way you can with scrapers & pads, if that's your goal. Yes, they'll mow the grass down a bit but you'll see the trails where they've been and untouched algae right next to it.

I have a couple Astrea and Nassaria (sp?) snails. I love em. They are strong enough not to get picked on by the fish, clean up everything on the glass and rocks. I had some turbo snails and they were horrible. They cant right themselves and my fish would pick at them. They all died after a week.

If you have hermit crabs they will attack the snails for their shells. Be aware. I had to get rid of my hermits because of this.

Exactly.
Get a Tunze Care magnet and clean the glass yourself every couple days.

Cant beat a magnet for glass. Best nails IME are Trochus sp. and Stomatella sp. as mentioned earlier.

I'll agree with the DJ . Trochus and stomatella are the best. Used astrea in the past 2 years but trochus are faster moving and can flip themselves

Turbo snails do a great job in my opinion. The problem is keeping them fed once they clean up the algae initially and they like to rearrange

Even low nutrient tanks need glass wiping every week. No matter the equipment or planning, there is no way around maintenance in this hobby. If the walls have any algae growth sooner than 3-5 days, then your phosphates are probably higher than optimal. Phosphates aren't as big of a deal with fish or lower demanding coral, but it will require you to scrape much more often. Are you using RO water for changes and top off?
