195 Gallon Tank
I am considering purchasing a used 195 gallon tank. The concern I have is the length is 5' (30"w x 25"t). I was set on a 6' tank to allow more swimming room for tangs and other fish. The tank is a reasonably good deal. Are there other downsides to a tank with these dimensions? Will it really limit me on the fish I can have in the tank? I plan to have a reef tank with fish.

I have a 60x30x26, you won't be able to reach the back of the tank without tongs.
You're somewhat limited on what fish you can stock and it also depends on your aquascape. What do you plan on getting?

I have a sailfin tang that I really like. From what I have read (after my wife purchased) he needs a 6' long tang minimum. I think anything else I am considering would be fine. Would you purchase a tank this size again?

Sailfin are really aggressive imo. I have an achilles and yellow kole eye in mines.
I would probably only add one more tang max in my tank. I have a bunch of other small fishes like anthias and chromis. I would still buy this tank again if I was to do it all over. I was originally going to get a 6x3x26, but it just didn't happen. If you have the space for a 6ft tank, why not? I wanted the 6ft to house a emperor angel.

i agree cleaning the back will suck. the longer the tank is also better for tangs. They like to swim long strides ...
I have a a CUSTOM built 84x30x22 inch tank.. even with the only 22 inch tall i can NOT Reach the back hardly at all. The good side of that is the rock work looks much nicer and easier to scape.. I say go at least 72 inches long if you can... and less height.. I love the 22 inch tall tank for reaching to bottom and on rock work.. Just the 30 inch deep part is hard ... Well worth the extra effort
