Skimmer pump turnign on and off

Hey, my bubble magus skimmer is a few years old so I'm wondering if the pump is just shorting out from use. It keeps turning on, then off, then on, then off. And so on. I was short on time so the rinse I gave it wasn't super great, but it didn't seem to help all that much. Any ideas? Does turning on and off seem like a short or is that not a symptom for pumps dying?

Either way short or dying time for a new pump. Have you checked the impeller? If it is swollen it cause the pump to start/stop.

Impeller was fine. I ordered a new pump that should be here today when I get out of studio. A friend of mine's pump caught fire while in water after having some issues so I figured it was best to keep this as a back up if I need it, but its rather worrisome to ever run it again unsupervised. I think i'll just use it for transporting water if its powerful enough.
