Feeding seaweed sheets

So is there a super secret trick to feeding fish seaweed?

Here is my dilema. I have 2 clowns a flame angel n a cleaner shrimp. I put some seaweed on a clip in every day and my tank goes crazy for it. Everyone devours it! Great, right? Well not exactly... I end up with seaweed everywhere.

I am using omega one seaweed.

My flame angel normally grazes on algae through the day, but my algae has been getting low, so I was hoping to put something in for him to graze on while I am at work. Is there a way to strengthen the seaweed so it wont end up all over the tank?

Some people were suggesting rolling it up into tubes, but is there anything (or any brand) that people have found that would let me be able to put it in all day with out it going to pieces?

Thanks!

If you have 1/4" netting and some zip ties and a magnet you can make your own

Yeah why not? I guess some of us like even the feeding things in the tank to look nice. $25 for this is FAR from anything that will hit most of our fish budgets and we all have equipment sitting around that costs 10x as much...

I put mine in a clip and soak in a cup of tank water before putting in the tank. Makes it easier for fish to pull small pieces.

I have a small clip. I take a sheet and dunk it quickly in the tank. A few seconds later I fold it into a square and clip it. They have to really bite at it to get it, but it works on controlling the mess.

Just saying I would not pay $25 for an item that costs $3 to manufacture. Like my dad used to tell me, "a fool and his money are soon parted".

If you have an aquarium then you are a fool by that logic. All of our pumps are pennies on the dollar we spend. Our tanks have markups. The lighting is incredibly marked up in most instances.

I use this.
http://www.amazon.com/Two-Little-Fis...rds=algae+clip

I'd roll up the nori and then fold the roll and clip it. I like being able to take it where I wanted and not get my hands wet.

And soulpatch, I too would happily pay a little more. I can't imagine how ghetto a nori clip made from netting and zip ties would look...wait, it would look like that BRS video.

Brett - Make sure to keep an eye on that magnet. A lot of issues with that rusting out and doing damage to livestock.

really 25 bucks to look neat and non-ghetto. Seriously i think i paid over 4000 to set up my 57 rimless reef tank. you honestly think i care about paying 25 bucks.
i rip a little piece and put it in a clip (very little piece barely sticking out of the clip) i feed them every morning and night this way. think i will try this feeding thingy thanks

I cut my sheets in half.
Then i take one of those halves, fold it twice so it's about 1.5" square and put on a clip.
No mess.
That grazing thing from IM is a poor solution to a non-existent problem.

Yeaaaa...small peice of rock...rubber band. fold the sheet over itself until it's about 1/2" wide, rubberband it to the rock..drop rock in tank.

I like to use a magfloat to pin the folded algae to the glass. It keeps the algae in place and prevents tearing. Fold it as small as possible. The fish loose interest quickly if it gets torn and is floating.

Interesting, never heard about that problem before. I'm not feeding nori in my current tank, but that magnet clip worked well for over a year.

The Innovative Marine Grazer does look pretty sweet.

If it's breaking into pieces pretty easily after introduced, I would purchase fresher nori....find the Asian markets around youand you want the only ingredient to be nori.
And I like to rubber band mine to a piece of rubble rock , and I just toss it in.

I take a sheet and cut it into 1'' pieces. Then I put it into the clip so about 3/4's of the nori hangs down. Take a pair of scissors and cut the nori into 1/8" strands and place in the tank. The fish get a piece and suck it down like spaghetti. Very little ends up floating around.

I get the Sushi Nori from the grocery store in 8"x8" sheets. I cut them is 1/4's.
I take one of those pieces and fold it in 1/4's and place the raw edges in the clip. The fish have to work to get their veggies and the tank stays clena most of the time.

reading these articles has given me a better way to feed Nori...firstly Nori, the cost of a packet of Nori is defiantly over the top...$10 nearly for just a few sheets of Seaweed.
Living now in Asia I have found that the wholesale markets have the same seaweed there in packets that sell for the same price but you get a few hundred sheets 8"x10"
I looked into this and it is the same as the seaweed sold in the LFS
I just cut each sheet in half and then fold it up to be about 1.5" square and then put it on a clip ...out with the scissors and cut 6 strips into the seaweed and then into the tank it goes
results are all the seaweed eating fish ...Naso tang. foxface 3 dwarf angels and even the hermit crabs are fat and healthy

I have a Grazer and my fish and I both love it! Used to use a clip and got tired of all the bits and pieces getting torn off and getting stuck to my rock after floating around my tank as well as having to only put like 1/4 sheet on it at a time to only last a couple of hours. With the grazer I can load a couple of full sheets in it, easily pour some garlic over it and throw it in the tank and it will last them a couple of days. And no more pieces coming off and floating around.
