Help with ATO and Protein skimmer
Woke up this morning and it appears that my ATO malfunctioned somewhat and I had about an inch above my sensor and normal waterlevel. Not too much of a big deal as I turned the ato off and my salinity is at 1.024 from 1.025. Problem is my protein skimmer overflows if the water level is affected at all. The output valve is so touchy but once I got it where I wanted it, the waterlevel in my sump affects the protein skimmer so easily. Any advise?
Float switch is 2 inches above the sensor, but don't think it would affect it much if I brought it down an inch. Nano reef systems skimmer. |

The water level in your skimmer section of the sump shouldn't change. You will continue having problems if it does. My skimmer is touchy as hell. Its in the first section where the overflow comes In and the return pump is in the opposite end.

My sump is an old bioball system and I took the bioballs out. It only has 2 chambers and the waterlevel stays the same.

Suggest you add a redundant float switch.
