Talking Cobalt Aquatics Neo Therm Heater

Any thought on using the Cobalt Aquatics Neo Therm Heater? Is it worth it? Anybody like it?

Just bought the 100w version, from what I read the 200w ones were having issues. I actually needed to get a second one, maybe 150w which I'm not sure if has had the same problems.

I watched the BRStv testing of them and it seems they were the most accurate of all units tested.

Not sure if you read the thread about them possibly blowing up. I really liked my 200 watt heaters until one of them blew up. I think 150 and 200 watt heaters were having issues. The 150s though did not have as many issues as the 200s. But other than that one major issue, I really liked them. Because of that issue though, i don't think they are worth it. At least the 150 and 200 watt heaters aren't worth it. Not sure about the lower watt ones.

Here's the link if you want to look at it: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=2376715

Imo, plastic + heat = time bomb. I'm thankful my 100w cracked heating a water change and not in tank.

Yeah, you're correct. That was almost two years ago. The last failure to chime in on that thread was about 3 months ago. I'm sure the failure rates are pretty low, and hopefully they fixed it completely. I however, am probably biased in my opinion since I experienced one of the heaters blowing up.

Like I said earlier though, I really liked the heater and I really want to like it now. It will, however, take more than 3 months of no reported failures for me to be at ease.

This was just my experience and my opinion. Wasn't trying to scare or worry you or anyone. Just bringing awareness that the problem may not be fixed yet.
