adding more sand?
So im debating about adding more sand to my tank. My sandbed is about 3/4 to an inch deep but i have eggcrate as well so my rocks wont move around.
would i need another inch or so of sand to keep my pistol shrimp from exposing the eggcrate and be happy? i could possibly just add another 10 to 20 pounds of new sand and if thats not enough use some from my old existing going to be shut down soon 40 breeder? let me know your thoughts. |

Not at all. That is plenty of sand.

Yes you can add new sand, I would recommend adding well washed dry sand over "live" sand. Try to limit the additions to 1/2 inch at a time waiting at least 4 days between additions.
