Question about Vortech PowerHead
Hi all,
I am in the early stages of planning my dream 500 gal tank. I was looking to have a deep square tank with a center column return and all the powerheads up in the canopy area. I was looking to install the Vortech MP60s but have been concerned: can this powerhead be "angled" downwards? I would like to have flow coming down to prevent any detritus accumulation but if all the powerheads are up high hidden in the canopy and just pushing water at a 90 degree angle I am worried the will just move water near the top... Any advice is welcome, Pete |

Great undertow... Yes. BUT the power heads will create a vortex if mounted too close to the surface.

No they cannot be mounted on an angle. They have to sit flat with side of tank.

To be honest on a 500 gal tank i would look into a closed loop system rather than powerheads. You can also hide the pipes so you cant even see them.
