Why? Knowing that would help us suggest options you may not be aware of.

Don't know what your plan is, but my first thought is...what about maintenance of the equipment? You limit your ability to pull stuff out to clean. Oh, and sounds like it would a PITA if a piece of equipment dies and needs to be replaced. IDK...just my $0.02.

Thanks.. my main issue is my 1 year old boy.. the tank is on the end of a runnof furniture and his obsession with anything electrical means hes already turned my power head and pump off on my current tank.. im adding another 5 plugs with this build and would really like it to look sleak and low risk from lil fingers : )

As stated above cutting the plugs and hardwireing is pretty much going to cost you time, energy, and a lack of clean equipment due to time and energy to unhook the equipment.

The obvious question is where is everything plugged in at that your 1 yr old has access to it? If under the stand then just lock it.

A couple of the DJ power strips would accomplish the same thing and no cutting involved

I second the DJ power strip idea especially behind locked doors if a little one is around. Keep both the tank and the kid safe without the problems of cutting cords.

What about building your own?

Something like that shouldn't be too hard to make. As long as the current draw on any given pair of wires is below the rating, it should be fine. Plus you can have a couple outlets be switch controlled for ease of use.

Another alternative would be to get a small locking box that you can mount your power strips in and lock the door. Something like this as an example would keep the power plugs out of reach of a child.
