Chaeto Trouble

I've tried to grow chaeto twice in my refugium-sump. I have an LED hang on that runs about 12 hours/ per day. I have algae growth in the refugium, but the chaeto just dies after 2-3 weeks.
I had started a red sea phos x program after the last piece died. Just wondering how to grow this stuff, even at or near 0 phosphate. Nitrate is relatively low, about 3 ppm.

I am no expert, but I think you need phosphate and nitrate to grow chaeto. Maybe try using a warmer light spectrum (I use a 7.5k fluorescent bulb from home depot).
