Hitchhiker?
So I have this colony of umbrella leathers that I got. I think it's dying which is in another post but when I recently moved it to try to revive it I noticed something.
In the two pictures there seems to be some type of crab or something with what look like feather dusters it uses. Anyone have any ideas? |

Sounds like a porcelain crab to me. They filter feed with the fans. I can't see it well in the pic but if that is what you got its a nice addition as they are reef safe.

Hmm ok I will look into that. It's really weird cause its almost like he is built into this structure of weird tubes, the leather and rock.

A better pic would help if possible. Your description of a crab with feather dusters is dead on for a porcelain crab. I also see an antenna in the picture that looks familiar as well as what looks like a claw. I could be wrong as it's tough to see in the pic.

Updated Picture
check this out. Got this late at night. What is this thing? Sometimes it will disappear and then stuff will shoot out of holes from various tunnels under the umbrella leather structure.

I'd say whatever that is, is your issue with keeping your leathers closed up. Get rid of it and I'm pretty sure they'll open. Leathers are pretty hard to kill.

Hmmm... I will try to get another image when he comes out more. Get rid of it, as in... remove it from tank / structure?
