Tank Cycling With Half The Water?

Hi all. New to the hobby. I just setup a 10gal tank that im getting ready to cycle. I put about 8lbs of sand since I dont want it to be too deep. Gonna buy some rocks tomorrow. I already put in about 5 gals of saltwater in it. My question is do I have to fill the whole 10gal all the way while cycling or can I just cycle with half the water to save some salt and mixing effort? Thanks

if you choose to add cured liverocks, you might not even have a cycle. try to keep the rocks wet when you take them home from the lfs though.
