Post 12,000 FTS

OK, figured I'd make my 12,000th post here of my present tank.
This tank is still fairly new at a little over 5 months now, still has quite a ways to go but I'm pretty happy w/ it so far.
Here's a few pics of what it's looking like today.

Very nice looking tank! What capacity or dimensions? The aquascape looks like a great balance between swimming room for fish and enough LR real estate for coral growth.

A question about the octopus on the canopy front (very cool btw): is that just an indented wood carving or is it back lit somehow? In the pic it almost looks like stained glass.

Thanks everyone, always glad to help where I can as many have done for me.
All fish are getting along just fine, this is a very peaceful tank, just the way I want it.
The canopy was based on an idea a couple stands ago that I built wanting to do something w/ that "free" light coming from fuge, and on this one decided to add that look to the canopy as well.
It was something I built just for me, something I rarely do, and was hand cut w/ just a jigsaw and a lot of hours of sanding.
It's backlit by a colored glass I'm fond of and have used a couple times now.
I wanted my tank to be brighter than the glass so your eye does look at the main attraction first as your eye usually looks to the brightest object, then the woodwork secondary.
I think it worked out pretty well in achieving that w/ the colored glass I picked.
Tank is an SCA 120g 4x2x2, I'm very happy w/ the quality of their build.

Thanks, I finally scraped all that mix of green coraline and HA that was on the overflow, looks a little cleaner and now all my coraline is coming in more solid purple, looks a little better now.
More anthias to come soon!

Me too. This stand and canopy is woodworking art! Hats off. Nice setup. Do the clowns host any of the euphylia?

how are the Mp40s working out on the back glass? ive been thinking about doing this with my 75g, right now i have them on either end. I have pretty much the same set up, middle overflow with two islands on each side. obviouslt 2 mp40s on my 75 is overkill i run them counter sync on nutrient transport at about 40% but i do get some dead spots on the corner of the back glass and the overflow. wonder if putting them on the back glass would eliminate this?

P.S. love your set up! looks awesome, canopy is amazing

Thank guys!

Tanks dims are 4x2x2

The clowns are hosted by a magnifica

As for the MP's I have one MP40QD which is awesome, no sound at all, and the other is actually an old MP20, which I was trying to hold out for a sale of some kind( I scored the QD during foster smiths 25% off deal) but it looks like I'm going to have to just man up and pay the price, but the MP20 still works fine, it's just the only thing makes a little noise, not a lot but some, and of course the 40 will give me an increase in flow.
I like them on the back panel, less noticeable, and bouncing that flow off the front panel helps deflect that flow and spreads around nicely.

How does the mag behave with everyone? I'd like to get one for my 75 but I'm afraid of it destroying everything.

The mag behaves the same as any other sea anemone, they are opportunistic feeders, not like they are aggressive or hunt or anything, if swim space is too tight or an animal is weak or sick it can be eaten.
The only variation I see on this is a haddoni has stickier tentacles and a stronger sting than other host anemones making them a little better at catching or closing the deal on those weak or sick or that comes just a little too close.
All sea anemones get their main source of energy from light much more than food, they can thrive just fine w/out being fed at all if light is sufficient.
The nice thing about Mags is give them a perch high up w/ good light and flow and they pretty much stay put.
The downside to Mags is they often come fresh shipped w/ bacterial infections and need to be QT w/ cipro treatment, pretty much all of them should be expected to need this type of treatment if they did not come from an established tank.
The cipro treatment protocol thread stickied in the nem forum should be followed exact, that there has made a huge difference in the survival rate of mags and other species prone to bacterial infections.
