White strings on silicone only

Hi everyone. I have a 55 gallon hex aquarium that I resealed (scraped to bare glass, cleaned all residue, and allowed to cure for a week) with Aqueon silicone. After the fishless cycle (water parameters still great) i added 2 small (1in) clownfish to my tank. They are doing great but the last 2 days I've noticed a stringy type substance on on the silicone ONLY. im hoping this is only from the thinner areas i just didnt scrape off but im concerned. Any help would be awesome!

A picture will help us ID it, but it sounds like some type of bacteria. I really wouldn't worry too much about it, it is fairly common to see different bacteria and algae blooms in a new tank. Use a tooth brush to remove it.

The silicon is in the corners, where there's less water flow so things like sponges and weird crud bacteria can get a foothold. I wouldn't worry unless it looks like the silicon itself is coming apart (which it can do if the preparation wasn't perfect).

Im pretty sure I was ocd with the new silicone. Bought the correct stuff, scraped, cleaned with acetone and let dry, even used tape for good lines and let cure for a little over a week. Its just one spot got under the tape and was thinner but didnt want to risk cutting the good silicone so i left it (its a tall aquarium and im short, it was difficult for me to just scape but is fully sealed)
