What do "normal folk" always have to say about your tank?
"Is that [coral] real?!"
"so the *rock* is alive?" "you have a Nemo!" "why do you spend so much money on fish if they're just gonna die..?" "Like in the movie!" "you must LOVE that show Tanked!" ... What are some good one's you're constantly hit with?

"Is that a spider?" Pointing to a cleaner shrimp.
"Cool, a black pearl" Pointing to a bubble algae "How come you don't have any bigger fish" when pointing to my Royal Gramma or Yellow Assesor in my 65 g tank. "What are those?" Pointing to my corals. "Did you have to drill a hole in the glass?" When they examine my Vortech MP40 pump. Actually 2/3 of the folks who look at my tank aren't all that intersted beyond a quick glance. But others, especially those who kept a freshwater tank in their younger years and children, can be pretty enthusiastic. |

Is that Dori and Nemo
Doesn't the bigger fish eat the smaller fish (interesting point) Isn't seaweed for Sushi Why do you need two tanks (sump) Everything is alive After finding out the cost of most stuff the only other question I get is..."Why spend so much" |

One of my techs (the tank is in the entryway of the office...everyone walks by it whenever then come or go), always says one of the following:
"You need a [shark/eel/lionfish]." (something to eat the other fish...he wants Thunderdome) "The 8-bits are so cool." (reference to the cardinals thinking they move like an old 8-bit computer game graphic) "Dude. Your glass is dirty." (trolling me whenever any amount of algae begins to grow on the glass between cleanings.) My response to him whenever I bring in a new coral or fish is, "Sorry Darin, I just spent your bonus for this month."

Ohhh yeah. Especially back when I had my 120g. Then I have to summarize why I don't find them worth the risk

I had an adorable little girl aged 4 or 5 ask if fish pooped. I said "sure, all animals have to poop."
She asked "How do you know when they're going to poopl?" I said "I don't." Then she asked "Then how do you know when to take them out before they poop?" I spared the tot a discussion on the nitrogen cycle however. |
