Magnificent Foxface HELP !!
I purchased a magnificent foxface today and since I added him to the tank he has hid under a rock, bottom touching the sand and breathing heavily. He has also developed a weird color pattern. He has only been in the tank for about an hour. Does anyone know what is wrong with him?

Sounds normal to me. They can change color when stressed to blend in to the rock. As far as the hiding goes sounds normal as well. The fish will come and return to normal coloring once it gets comfortable with the surroundings.

My FF looks like a marine in full camo at night, really a neat sight, looks like a different fish.

Did you at least acclimate him properly. I know some fish stores keep their fish tanks on lower salinity, even as low as 1.019.

Like others have stated, that all sounds normal to me. Of all the fish I have ever had, my foxface was the most skittish and took the longest to to become comfortable and settle down. Once it did very personable and great fish.

All is well today. My LFS keeps their salinity at 1.026. I don't QT because I don't have the setup yet.
