Finger leather coral has no po finger leather coral has no polyp extension

It has been about two weeks since I have brought in a finger leather coral to my reef aquarium. The frogspawn that I added is doing great as well as the pulsing Xenia. All I have seen the finger leather coral do is constantly shed. For the first week. It looked very waxy while at shed so I took a powerhead off of it and moved it to an indirect area where the finger leather would still get high flow, and the waxy luck went away but all he continues to do his shed.

Anyone with experience in whether corals and what could be causing this issue?

Gary is correct, very normal. Just give it higher lighting and higher flow. Leathers also shed a lot this is why they need the higher flow. My finger leather was in a funk for about 6 months, then it came out of it and is now growing like a weed.

A leather coral was my first coral 10 years ago. In my opinion they are indestructible. They may have polyps open for weeks or closed for weeks, in my experience it is just what they do. I have since went to sps and lps but and sold off my leather coral about 5 years ago, however i still have small pieces pop up here and there.

When you all say to keep in higher flow, is having a power head aimed at it too much or am I imagining this correctly when you say keep in high flow. The PH doesn't cause a lot of me went but you constantly see flow passing by it.

Think of high flow this way. If you have say any Euphyllia, hammer, frogspawn or hammer and they are gently swaying back and forth that would be low/med flow. If they would be whipping back and forth and looking like they would lose their heads that is high flow. Take a look at some Youtube videos of corals in leather tanks, LPS tanks and also in mixed reefs this should give you an idea of what low med and high flow look like. It's really hard to explain in writing.
