265 gallon build

Here is my 265 in my basement. We are moving in the near future and I convinced my boss to set it up at work. It has been freshwater up until now and I have decided to do a fowlr (possible reef in the future).

Here I am laying out my sumps where the tank will be going. Should have the tank moved by this weekend.

I don't see that happening. I guess if it does I would just charge him for the tank. Lol

Very nice. I'm curious to see how the dual sump situation works.

The dual sump works great. It's just like having one big sump. This tank has been set up as freshwater with this configuration for the last 2 years with absolutely no problems.

Did a little work on the tank today. Got the right sump plumbed in. But realized I cracked the left sump in the move.

Luckily I had an extra 40 breeder so I came up with a new layout that will actually work better. It also includes a refugium and a better skimmer section that is sized correctly.

Next step is to put all of the pieces together.

I also ordered my skimmer. I went with a bubble magus g9. Rated up to 400 gallons.

Right side with 4 filter socks.

Running tubing from RO filter in the bathroom behind the tank.

Putting filter together. 6 stage 120gpd

Started working on my plans to skin the stand and build a canopy. Picked some nice red oak.

Got my live rock shipped in. 250lbs of fiji premium.

Put some rubble rock and chaeto in the fuge.

Also built a lexan cover for my filter socks to quiet down the splashing water.

Everything is looking really clean.

Good to see other Nebraskans, by the way. I am in Omaha (just moved to work at Bellevue University, actually).

Got the doors mounted. The hooks hold them in place and the 1x4 on the bottom sets the height.

Had my diatom outbreak. And it was bad.

Got a clean up crew from reef cleaners and they are slowly working away at it.

Also got a few chromis.

Finished staining the stand and trimming it out. Doors are still wet and propped up to dry.

Next up is new bulbs for my light. Ordered four blue plus, two coral plus, one actinic, and one purple plus. Should be here tomorrow.
