Is this brown jelly disease on acan?
Is this what they call the BJD? If so, this is the first time happening in my tank and I have to take the sad coral off before it spreads. There's some sort of dirt that covers few Acan holes (there's 2 in the middle as shown in the pic) ... to be honest, I'm not too sure if the color is brown but it doesn't look happy that's for sure. Any update would be much appreciated! |

Not really sure if it is or it isn't, never seen an acan with BJD before. Do you have any pictures of this acan before it got this? I've never seen a white acan before.
You can dip it in Revive or follow this link and do an iodine dip. You can get iodine at any pharmacy

I may be beating a dead horse no pun intended, but that acan is totally gone, and i'd chuck it in the trash.

You still haven't answered about it being white? I guess instead of beating around the bush was it bleached by your lights? Like I said I've never seen a white acan

wowzers. Phosphate and nitrate are high. My bet would be that.
I don't think it was a white acan, that's just the skeleton.

I don't know to be honest .. the moment it went in .. it goes under .. substrate level ... Kessil A360WE intensity 50, color 50. Kessil mounted 20 cm above water surface, tank is 60 cm deep, so by calculation, light source is 80 cm above Acan. And with intensity of 50 (ramping up, max at 50, ramping down), for sure i know it's not bleached by my light. You tell me if it makes to bleach a coral 80 cm away from the source (with intensity of 50) ? 9 hours total period of lighting (remember it's not total 9 hours 50 intensity ... it ramps up, 50 then ramps down). If 50 intensity of Kessil A360WE with my setting describe above bleach acan, i will never buy anymore acan. You should never see white acans, because there is no such thing nor am I claiming that my acan is originally white. something definitely wrong with it, for it becoming white, hence I'm trying to find out what is the possible cause of it (RTN, No3, Po4, NoPox, Alk, Temp, etc). |

So Acan can't handle high No3 and Po4? I thought LPS are more resistant to this condition. So are you saying that Scolly will be the same case too? |
