90 gallon SPS lighting.
hey everyone, starting off a new build and upgrading to a 90 reef ready. planning on going bare bottom with heavy sps and lps / clams on the bottom. would i be ok with 2 x 150 Halides and a kessil 360 for color ? i also have a 250 W halide... any help is greatly appreciated.
I've also seen the 48" sunblaze 8 bulb fixture... any experience or reviews ? for the money seems decent. |

I would do 2 250W MH OR an 8 bulb T5 if that is what you are considering. I think the 150 will lack punch to the bottom although you might get away with it, it won't be "best". I think MH and Kessil is a nice combo, I ran a 250 with Kessil 150 supplements and that tank did great!

The issue with the 150s is that they reflectors are often very small and shadow a bit. The output is good enough in a 24" tank with a good bulb (phoenix 14k). You can get wider reflectors for SE bulbs.
You can get all the color that you need from a good MH bulb. If you want dusk/dawn then that is different. |
