About a 30 to a 40. More wouldn't hurt, but that would house skimmer, return, various gear.

Generally as big as you can fit under your stand but still leaving room for any top off reservoirs and other equipment you want in the stand (assuming your sump is going to be inside your cabinet.

What they said.

I have a 40b for my 120 because it sits under the stand. I have a 120g refugium and a 50g sump for my 150 because they are in an adjacent fish room. I'm in the setting up stages for a 60g frag tank (48x24x12). I'm going to use a 150g rubbermaid stock tank for the sump, but it will have a lot of space taken up by live rock.

I would also add if possible have your skimmer, heaters and other equipment on hand to make sure everything fits if your going to make one. At the very least have the dimensions for the equipment.

It is a real bummer to find your skimmer won't fit in your sump. Good luck
