American Marine Nitrate monitor

I have seen mixed reviews on the Nitrate monitor that American Marine makes but much of them were a few years back.

I was hoping that much product improvement would have taken place since then.

anyone use this product and what is your opinion, 300.00 is a chunk to spend on this but the ability to test more frequently would be great

Thanks

I've read pretty much nothing bad bad about all their probe kits (Especially this one and the calcium), and I don't think they've changed recently. They are very expensive too, so I've steered clear.

Got some feedback from the manufacturer, they say the probe is a solid state type that is made for saltwater.

I am assuming that, it was an issue initially

I wish this product was the real deal, but once again like the calcium probe I get a bad feeling. First thing that worries me is that they say that a properly stored probe should last 2-3 years but then they only give it a 6 month warranty !!

Then there is the lengthy calibration time of one hour. Now in all fairness they say this is "usually" a one time calibration. I sure hope so because one hour of calibration time on a regular basis would become a problem real fast.

Until someone who is an old salt gets one and tries it for a few months and gets back with a report, I would be very wary.

I just spoke with Hanna inc. because i seen that they had a Nitrate photmeter,..for Fresh only. Bummer.

they said the biggest hurdle is the reagents that are used interfere with the test, and they also added that they are working on it.

I would throw the a sale if they did
