Sump Plumbing Dry Run
I have decided to plumb my new tank with hard pvc. It's the first time that I have done this before, and I have few questions.
1. I have attached some photos, and I was wondering if there are any major design flaws or things I could do to make it easier. 2. Does it really matter which way the ball valves go? I know there is an arrow for flow direction and I honored accordingly that but obviously the purpose of them being there is to prevent flow from the DT to the sump for maintenance and such. 3. I decided to go with slip fitting for each of the ball valve to bulkhead connections. Space is at a premium and the additional length added by using threaded connections and adapters for this connection really made things tight. 4. I will not be setting up the tank until June, but prior to setting it up, I was thinking it might be a good idea to glue the PVC to each of the bulkheads now. That way I can do another dry run but have the actual glue fittings for the pvc to bulkhead connection. Obviously I won't be able to glue anything else until I set it up. Thanks in advance for any comments or advice! |

Use BRS soft silicone tubing at the return pump. Only need a few inches. Also use a silicone pad under the pump. Together this will silence your pump/stand.
