Hanging ATI Sunpower from ceiling. Hole Location

Hey Guys,

Is there any easy way to mark the two holes in the ceiling to mount my ATI Sunpower with the supplied hanging kit? Other thank measuring do they make any type on lasers that shoot a beam straight up so something similar? any tips would be great, i want to make sure it looks clean and straight.

You could use something like this I think. I have something similar but it's packed away and I can't remember the exact brand/model:

Check out a 3-Point Self-Leveling laser guide from Home Depot, Lowes, etc...

You can place your ATI fixture how you want it on top of the tank. Then place the leveling guide on top of one of the ATI's mounting holes. It will shoot a beam to the location on the ceiling for the first location. Do this for all the mounting hole locations on the ATI fixture.

There ya go.

My only last recommendation is to get a "Self-Leveling" one and be sure it is 3-Point. You need a beam shooting down and up. The self-leveling will allow your fixture sitting on top of your tank to be off a bit, otherwise, make sure your fixture is level.

You can also just use a plum bob. Simple and cheap and precise.

I have used a simple plump bob several times. Easy and as accurate as it gets.

I set a couple 2x4's across my tank to set the light on and the manually pull uop the cables. I knew how far off of the back wall i needed the fixture. Just needed the side to side. Worked ut great!

after you found where to hang it in the ceiling, what did you use to actually secure it in the ceiling? Also how do you guys usually attach the reef brites to the side of the ATI
