Lighting for a 6/8 foot tank - LED

Hi all,

We are converting an old double garage into a single garage and a separate room for TV and a tank. Depending on how the room turns out this will be either 6 or 8 foot.

So I'm looking for advice / peoples experience of lighting a 6 or 8 foot tank with LEDs so I can cost up the options.

I am looking to keep both LPS/SPS with Zoas.

Any help would be appreciated.

Stu

Acan lights are one option that I have seen work with sps, Radions are another.

I've never had a tank that big so I can't speak from experience, but a lot of folks seem to be having success keeping all sorts of corals with the Maxspect Razor. For a 6' tank, one 320W fixture (~ $900) will provide adequate coverage. For an 8' tank, two 180W fixtures (~$510 each) side by side will work great.

3 or 4 Chinese black boxes like marsaqua off ebay. That would be the cheapest. Then supplement with some t5s.

I'm not a fan of the colour from the razors, I had one on my aqua reef 275 and switched it for a gen 3 standard radio and much preferred the colour.

Not nessecerily after the cheapest option, and don't want to run T5s with it. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Budget is not my main driving factor (to an extent!) so open for suggestions.

Stu,
IF UK is location then check out the Vertex lights.
They suggest leaving 1 foot either side short, so their 6 footer would do for an 8 foot tank.
