Sump size?
Hey guys.
I'm in the process of building a 75g FOWLR and was wondering if there was really that much of a difference between uaing a 40g breeder and a 20g for a sump? The 75 and the 40 also have the same width if that is somehow a problem. Thanks.

I think a 20 may be tight depending on your equipment. With a FOWLR, you may need a large skimmer if you have messy eaters. o with the 40 if you have room in the stand.

It really depends on how much room you have in your stand as far as height, width and length and being able to access the stand for maintenance and equipment. Are you buying a pre-made stand or building your own? Making your own you can make the stand what it needs to be and how big you can go on a sump or what size.
40 breed is what I would go with personally if you have the room. I built my own stand and was only going to make it 30 inches tall. Then I realized my skimmer was roughly 17 inches tall and most skimmers need to sit in something to raise them to get the proper skimmer height in the sump for proper operation. |

40 would be a huge sump for that size of display tank but i don't see anything wrong with that at all. more room/options and larger water volume is why.
