Zoas On Fire!
A couple of weeks ago, I was distressed at the sight of my zoas starting to shrink and close up. I was utterly frustrated and resigned myself to their inevitable demise.
Out of sheer annoyance, I starting reading on the topic of feeding corals, which, I was not doing with the right food, based on particle size, etc. For example, I was historically spot feeding the zoas with the broth of emerald entree melted in water. Then I read about oyster-feast and rodi-feast, and I bought a bottle of each at my local fish store. With a baster, I spot-fed the zoas oyster-feast in the morning, every day, and at night, I spot-fed the zoas rodi-feast, every day. It is more than what was called for, I know, but I felt like my poor zoas were on life support and needed to be rescued from the dead. In a couple of weeks the zoas have raged back, opening up and expanding. I have a picture of the zoas taken at night, under the moonlight of my LEDs. If your zoas are hurting, you might try spot feeding them the liquid food oyster-feast and rodi-feast. As far as I understand, the thing to appreciate here is that the particle size of these feast foods is small and can be assimilated into the membrane of the zoas, where it is taken up as food. Look at this picture below. Several weeks ago these zoas were almost completely closed. Now look at them: My Zoas at Night under the Moon Glow of LEDs: Anyone else experience this result of their zoas on fire, based on spot feeding them?
