CoralVue 660 T5 ballast
I am planning to buy CoralVue 660 T5 ballast and have a couple of questions.
1. Is 660 running VHO for T5? 2. Can HO T5 bulbs run with VHO mode? |

It will run either t5 or vho.

T5 is considered high output. Vho is t12 bulbs and considered very high output. Basically the diameter of the bulb is different.

The 660 is a clone of the IceCap 660 that was designed to run VHO T12 bulbs. Icecap and CoralVue both made claims that the 660 could run T5 but the output does not match the specs for T5 bulbs and has been known to shorten the life of the bulbs because of the ballast supplying too much current to the bulbs.
You would be better using a T5 ballast to run T5 bulbs. BRS sells the same ballast used by ATI which is widely used and highly regarded. HTH,

I though IceCap/CoralVue 660 gives you much more PAR. If it is overdrive, it is much more PAR than ATI ballast.

They burn the t5 bulbs too hot. You might get a little more par but it will be very short lived When Icecap manufactured their own t5 light they didn't use the 660.

Sounds like 660 is not a good ballast for T5.

I use the 660 and 430for t5's and it is noticeably brighter than a normal ballast. Active cooling will help the life of the bulb

Do you overdrive the T5?
