Scratching my head on this PROBLEM!!
Not new to the hobby but I am scratching my head on this one.
So I have a 125 gallon reef tank with a 40 gallon sump with about 150lbs of live rock the tank has been set up for about two years now. I am having issues with my corals I over dosed the tank with calcium carbonate (read the Alk test as mml instead of DKH, stupid) so had milky water(percipient) did a 40 gallon water change about an hr after i noticed the tank. the parameters are alk-9 cal-420 nitrate-0 nitrite-0 mag-1350 phos-0 ammonia-0 salinity-1.025 temp ranges from 76-78 DF feed once a day frozen food, every three days frozen with garlic added I does BRS two part for alk, mag, and cal once every day to every other day. filtration- refigium with live rock and chato, skimmer rated 250gal( nasty skimate), and bio pellets(small amount enough for 45 gallons, also does 6ml of vodka every other day. Lighting- two 36in rapid led DIY with 14leds on each and two 165watt eBay lights full spectrum on about 50 percent. Light cycle, blue from 930am-930pm, white 1030am-730pm, and Rapid Led strips from, 11am-1pm. Since the overdoes I have done changed about seventy-five percent of my water. SPS are not doing well hammer is shrunk up and mushroom and polyps are all closed, fish(10 fish) are fine and eating well. Cleaner crew is alive and my two shrimp are well, also I have four cucumbers doing well also. Any questions feel free to ask! Thanks Kyle |

A while back I had a timer fail and the alk pump went for quite awhile before I caught it. I did the same as you with the WC. My Corals were quite irritated for a few weeks but eventually things returned to normal. Good luck

How long ago was the alkalinity overdose? Alkalinity burns take quite awhile to heal, it burns the growth tips the worst.

the tank was cloudy for about seven hrs but in that time the parameters did not spike, well atlas not an hr later(ph never went above 8.3). Also I did a 40 gallon water change within the hr
