is my skimmer undersized ?

Hi guys,

need a little advice here... I just completed my set-up (first reef) of a 85gal tank with 40breeder sump. no water yet. i was told to get a JNS CO-1 skimmer.
BUT ... i was recently told it might not be enough for my tank size.

The dimension available in my sump for the skimmer is 8''x13'' for 20-21'' in height.

first question: is the JNS CO-1 is to small ? i plan to have a noraml bioload, mainly nano fish.
2nd question : what are my option if i don't want to redo my baffles and manifold in my build ??? i saw that :Reef Octopus Classic 150SS Space Saver Skimmer would that work ???

thanks in advance

david

CO1 is rated for 90-175g. I think you'll be fine.

You won't know if your skimmer is under rated until you try it. Planning on keeping a "normal bioload" and "mainly nano fish", I would bet that skimmer will work just fine.

Down the road if you decide to go crazy and pack that tank full of big fat tangs, and start feeding really heavy, then maybe it will be time to upgrade. Until then, I would say you are good to go
