Anyone running the Jebao DP-4 Dosing Pump?
Im looking to dose my ALK and Calcium in my tank. Does anyone have this pump. It is $63 dollars on Amazon and was recommended to me. Anyone have any thoughts?

Well, my 90 gallon tank has only been up and running for about 7 months now but the dosing pump has been ok for me so far. I have not used other dosers in the past so I have no other bench marks as far as options and performance to go on. I dose calcium, alk, and vinegar daily and it does the job. I have not verified the accuracy of the dosage post configuration, but it has maintained the appropriate levels in a relatively new system with young sps My initial impressions would be that it is working well. It is easy to configure and manage but the instructions that shipped with the unit were not all inclusive and I had to do a bit of web searching but that did not bother me.

I have one- I would not recommend it.
Out of the box two of the four pumps don't work. They turn, but don't pump. If I took it apart I'm sure I could get it working. I shouldn't have to futz with a new item. Programming is simple but frustrating. You have to press the buttons many, many times to program it. And it's not actually clear whether the program was saved so I found myself running through the program again to verify it. All told, there are many dozens of button presses to complete. And if you want to make a small change to the program.... MORE button pressing. Oh, and this whole time with all the button pressing you have to kinda hold the unit up to be able to see the display. Not an easy unit to get to when installed under a tank. It would have been a home run product if only they made a APEX module for programming. As it stands it can certainly fulfill the need at a low cost but I personally will be ditching it and buying the BRS pumps so I can sit at my desk and program the pump via APEX. |
