Ttm help

Hi im doing the ttm method im dosing the tank with prazi pro and saechem prime. I have a return filter in there circulating the water with no media in it, but could i just run a sponge in there if i want or would this affect the pp & prime?

Thanks

you shouldn't be running any kind of filter. air pumps and air stones work best for this. then you can throw out the air stone and the air line in between each transfer and get new ones.

especially with the prazi you want to make sure you're maintaining adequate oxygenation, and you don't want anything that could hold on to old water and transfer it to the next tank.

Ttm help

A sponge wouldn't affect the meds at all, but I'm not sure there's any benefit to it either. The point to the sponge is to give the bacterial population somewhere to live, but draining and restarting the tank every few days with the TTM method doesn't give it nearly enough time to get established. Since you can't allow anything to stay wet when you restart the tank each time and the sponge could easily retain water you would need to throw it out and use a new sponge each time and that could get expensive with no real benefit.

I use a fairly powerful filter then after use i strip down clean with a vinegar solution run it through the filter for a bit wash everything down with warm water. Then i take everything apart and let everything air dry for the next 72 hours.
