nudibranch.. of some sorts..
actually probably a flatworm due to a lack of any bodily protrusions.. There might be a nudibranch/flatworm identification site on the internet too.. But bookmark this site for your learning/discoveries.. Most of the normal ones are covered here.. http://www.lionfishlair.com/hitchhiker.shtml

At first I thought it might be a planarian, but then I noticed the skirts.

That's a polyclad flat worm if you ask me.
A gorgeous one at that.

I agree as Polycladida is a order of the phylum Platyhelminth

That's the flat worm I had all depends on how it moves. Mine tended to glide on the rock forming to every crevasse. Put a snail in there if it's a polyclad it will be dead within a couple of days. Mine ate 3 trochus in a 2 weeks period. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk |

Im not great with my worms, which is why I just guessed the phylum it might be in.
I googled "purple Platyhelminth" and saw one with the name Pseudoceros ferrugineus that looked really close to OPs worm physically, but color wise it has a golden rim, which the OPs lacked. maybe someone better with worms can nail down the exact species. Id be willing to gamble a guess its in the genus Pseudoceros though. Edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudoceros_ferrugineus If I am right on the genus, looks like their primary diet consists of tunicates, possibly sponges as well. Which by its color, makes sense as with most these types of critters have evolved to resemble what they eat to avoid predation.

Yeah polyclads come in all kinds of patterns and colors. Most of the time they mimic their prey. The one in your pic is likely a tridacnid clam predator, most of those in that pattern are. Like you said though, it all depends, but from that pic alone I would say polyclad.

You narrowed it down better than I did, like I said worms are not my strong suit so I only felt comfortable guessing the phylum

You could put it in a species tank and feed it snails and clams. It is beautiful!
