How important is the RED LED in the color pucks?

My AI Vega has the most annoying high pitched beeping humming sound only when the red led color is on even at 1% intensity. I figured it out today and took a video of it ---https://youtu.be/qB5xLGb8mV0

How important is the RED LED?

Please advise!

Thanks!

My understanding it is not important as long as you have 6700K/10000K whites as they both contain enough in the red spectrum.

I took the reds completely out of my black box as the 4 it had was making the tank have a purple tint.

I would say they are of minor importance. If there is a broad spectrum white turning them off would probably not matter much. On the hydra52 they make up around 5% of the total power if all channels are at the same setting.

Manufacturers use red leds because they are dirt cheap and don't want to spend the money on a high cri warm, neutral, or cool white LED. Red LEDs are awful as they introduce color banding. They should have been phased out years ago in favor of higher quality whites.

And before the apologists start posting, there has been a low price high quality white available for quite some time now in the Luxeon C 5700K 90CRI. Also, green is another garbage LED which should have been replaced long ago with Lime or now Mint which has been available for a couple of months.

Agree with both of these, but if you're looking for the red end of the spectrum a 2700k 80CRI Warm White would be ideal.

Green is already heavily covered with any white LED on the market and its an aesthetic only color. You should either be using Cyan or Lime/Mint (or both)
